April 2008: New Book on Arabic and Chinese Handwriting Recognition

A new book on Arabic and Chinese handwriting recognition, which I co-edited with David Doermann, is now available in the "Lecture Notes in Computer Science" series from Springer. The book contains 16 revised full papers. The first six papers deal with Arabic handwriting together with a short historic survey of the language and techniques used in recognition. Five papers present the current research in Chinese handwriting and three more papers deal with cross cutting methods applied to other languages. The book closes with two articles on recognition of English and south Indian handwriting. More information about the book can be found on the Springer webpages.
